I created this Voicethread to share how blogs and wikis can be used in the classroom. It was shared with my peers in my Learning Technologies class. The Voicethread was used as a way to introduce teachers to the topic but also to allow them to interact and discuss the presentation. Analysis The Voicethread tool is a great platform for online discussion. When sharing new tools with teachers, it is important to have a way to ask questions and provide feedback. Voicethread allows participants to collaborate and share comments or start discussions on the page that is being presented. The main weakness of this particular Voicethread is that I am speaking at a very slow pace. At the time it seemed appropriate to be sure I was not rushing, and I was speaking clearly. Now it seems to drag on. I feel if I were to share this with a group of teachers, they would not want to sit through sixteen slides of information. I would like to revise this and trim some of the information or speed up my voiceover, if possible. Reflection Every time I use Voicethread I am reminded how much I like it. The collaborative aspects of the platform and variety of the ways users can offer feedback make it an extremely valuable tool. I have not used it with students yet, but I would love to try that. The ability to do written or oral comments should engage students who are reluctant writers, and it still allows them to interact with the classroom community. Looking ahead, I would like to do some research and find ways other educators are using Voicethread so I can get ideas to try on my own. |
